Programs and Duration

Undergraduate

The Department of Computer Science has only one (1) undergraduate programme - Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (B.Sc). The duration for the programme is minimum of eight (8) Semesters (4) and maximum of twelve (12) semesters (6 years).

The JAMB combination of B.Sc. in Computer Science is Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Postgraduate

The Department of Computer Science has four (4) postgraduate programmes as follows:

1. Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS)

2. Master of Science in Computer Science (MCS)

3. Professional Masters in Computer Applications (MCA)

4. Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (Ph.D. CS)

The duration for each programme is given below:

Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS)

Duration: The duration for the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science program shall be a minimum of two (2) semesters and maximum of four (4) semesters

Master of Science in Computer Science (MCS)

Duration: The duration for the M.Sc. Computer Science program shall be a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Professional Masters in Computer Applications (MCA)

Duration: The duration for the professional Masters in Computer Application program shall be a minimum of two (2) semesters (twelve (12) calendar months) and a maximum of four semesters (twenty-four (24) calendar months) to graduate.

Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (Ph.D. CS)

Duration: The duration for the PhD Computer Science program shall be a minimum of six semesters (6) and maximum of ten semesters (10) before the candidate presents himself/herself for examination. In exceptional circumstances, an extension of not more than two semesters can be granted by the University Senate on the recommendations of the Departmental and Faculty Postgraduate Studies Committees and the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
